Todd Baldwin

Trombone, Trumpet, Low Brass

Todd Baldwin has served with The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” since 1984 and is the current Element Leader for The U.S. Army Ceremonial Band. Previous positions include Trombone Section Leader and both Group Leader and Producer for the Herald Trumpets.  Baldwin’s military career has engaged him in performances at the White House, in concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops and National Symphony and across the country for events of national significance.

As a freelance musician, Baldwin has performed with the Washington Opera, Washington Ballet, Richmond Symphony and the National Gallery Orchestra. He has recorded with the Capitol Bones, Mark Taylor Big Band, Washington Winds and for episodes of “America’s Most Wanted”, “West Wing” and several National Geographic documentaries. He has been the trombone instructor at American University since 2007 and maintains an active private studio.

In 2010, Andrew was hired to create a new 5-12th grade music program for the Innovation Academy Charter School in Tyngsboro, MA. His work there has included creating new coursework in musicology, electronic music, aesthetics, and African American music, conducting high school musical productions, and laying the groundwork for school-wide vocal and instrumental performance programs.

Peter Fraize

Peter Fraize is a saxophonist and George Washington University professor best known for his freestyle jazz and for performing as a part of the Peter Fraize Quintet.

Gwyn Jones




Days Available: Fridays


Flutist Gwyn Jones performs throughout the DC area with a variety of ensembles, from classical chamber groups to full orchestras and wind ensembles. Ms. Jones holds a Master of Music degree in performance from Florida State University and was a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, where she also conducted the UNT flute choir.

Rod Hill

Rod Hill comes to Middle C Music from Music City — Nashville, TN, where he was a band director at Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Magnet School and also an instructor and assistant director of bands at Tennessee State University, beginning in 1975. He holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Louisiana Tech University.

Moe Nelson




Days Available: Wednesdays

David “Moe” Nelson grew up in Champaign, Illinois, and has made and taught music on a part-time professional basis since the age of 18. Primary instruments are string bass, harmonica, and ukulele, and he enjoys teaching harmonica in individual lessons and small group classes.
