Which Drum Sticks Should I Buy?

Beginning drummers and parents (and sometimes those are the same people) are faced with a staggering array of choices for drumsticks, each stick sporting a confusing name and number. Is “5A” better than “7A”? Nylon tip or wood tip? Skinny or fat?

The short answer is that the right stick is the one that feels best in your hands. The longer answer is that different styles of drumsticks are used for different styles of music.
